Detroit, MI- As the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Detroit Field Division pursues its mission of investigating and prosecuting the region’s most notorious drug trafficking organizations, allies in accomplishing this goal have risen from a number of different areas. One group of citizens who have been extremely supportive includes members of the Detroit’s business and medical community. These community leaders expressed an interest in learning more about DEA’s missions and its operations. These leaders could in turn educate many more members of the community regarding DEA’s role in stopping domestic and international drug trafficking.

In response to this interest, the Detroit Field Division conducted a six session orientation for twenty-two members of the business and medical community to familiarize them with the operations and training of the men and women of the DEA. Special Agents, Intelligence Research Specialists and Diversion Investigators conducted briefings in the following areas:

• Designer Drugs and Our Youth
• Prescription Drug Abuse
• Major Case and Conspiracy Investigations
• Tactical Operations
• Domestic and Regional Drug Briefings
• Clandestine Laboratory Hazards

The response from these business leaders was overwhelmingly positive and they looked forward to spreading the word on DEA’s vital mission and its impact in the Detroit Metropolitan area.
