Milford, Massachusetts....Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration New England Field Division while addressing the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association concerning the perils of predatory drugs announced the arrest of six individuals charged in criminal complaints with conspiring to possess, with intent to distribute, ecstasy.
Special Agent in Charge Trouville delivered the key note address to over two hundred educators, coaches and students who are members of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA). The MIAA sponsors the nationally recognized MIAA Wellness Program which provides excellent resources to help combat the availability and marketing of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and to educate students about the potential risks. The Wellness Program advocates that young people should be encouraged to make responsible, healthy choices about alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
Special Agent in Charge Trouville discussed the serious consequences of predatory drugs and discussed three ways to combat the problem. First through education, alerting parents, teens, schools and communities about the harms of ecstasy. Second through legislation, new laws that address the complexities of predatory drugs and third is strict enforcement of the current laws. SAC Trouville talked about the DEA initiative Operation X which was enthusiastically received.
