HOUSTON – With opioid overdose deaths increasing during the pandemic, the Drug Enforcement Administration is holding its 20th Take Back Day on Saturday, April 24th. DEA’s October 2020 Take Back Day brought in a record-high amount of expired, unused prescription medications, with the public turning in close to 500 tons of unwanted drugs. Over the 10-year span of Take Back Day, DEA has brought in more than 6,800 tons of prescription drugs.

Kennedy, Jr. and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan, New York Division announced today that Garland Beardsley a/k/a Charlie Beardsley, 53, of Jamestown NY, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute, and distributing, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. The charge carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life, a fine of $10,000,000.

BANGOR, ME - DEA New England Division Special Agent in Charge Brian D. Boyle and Acting U.S. Attorney Donald E. Clark announced that a New York man was sentenced today in federal court for possessing cocaine base and fentanyl with intent to distribute. 

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A federal grand jury returned a five-count indictment today against Calvin James Smith, 33, and Marques Julius Johnson, 39, of Sacramento, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert and Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Wade R. Shannon announced.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – DEA New England Division Special Agent in Charge Brian D. Boyle and Leonard C Boyle, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Jesus Manuel Valle, also known as “LoLo,” 24, of East Haven, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer in New Haven to 60 months of imprisonment, followed by four years of supervised release, for narcotics distribution and firearm possession offenses.

MIDLAND, Texas - A federal judge sentenced the last of six defendants who were operating a methamphetamine distribution ring throughout the Odessa area. The judge sentenced 42-year-old Jeremy David Farley, aka “Biker,” to 30 years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute approximately 27 kilograms of methamphetamine throughout the Odessa area, announced U.S. Attorney Ashley C. Hoff, Odessa Police Chief Mike Gerke and DEA Special Agent in Charge Kyle Williamson, El Paso Division.
