Special Agent in Charge Christopher Evans serves as the first Special Agent in Charge of the Louisville Field Division. The division, established January 1, 2018, will serve Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia and dedicate executive leadership to the central Appalachia region.
Mr Evans started his law enforcement career with the Drug Enforcement Administration in 1992 at the Washington Division Office and then transferred to the Los Angeles Field Division. In Los Angeles, Mr. Evans conducted investigations on Mexico-based organizations trafficking cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine through southern California to the rest of the United States. His investigative efforts led to numerous convictions and a federal death penalty approved prosecution resulting in guilty pleas to life without the possibility for parole, for the defendants’ role in a drug related murder for hire.
In 2002, Mr. Evans was promoted to a Supervisory Special Agent (Group Supervisor) position at the Los Angeles Field Division where he led international investigations targeting Israeli crime syndicates conducting worldwide money laundering schemes and international drug operations. Additionally, he oversaw the Domestic Cannabis Eradication and Suppression Program and several successful multi-state wiretap investigations of major Mexico-based transportation organizations.
In 2006, Mr. Evans was reassigned to DEA Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, where he was assigned to the Office of Operations, Mexico and Central America section. In that capacity, he represented DEA on the Department of Justice Committee on International Gangs, before serving as the Executive Assistant to the DEA Administrator.
From 2010 to 2017, Mr. Evans was an Assistant Special Agent in Charge in the Los Angeles Field Division. During this time, Mr. Evans also led the establishment of the Los Angeles Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force strike force and served as the first strike force commander.
In June 2017, Mr. Evans was selected for the position of Associate Special Agent in Charge of DEA’s Detroit Field Division where his area of responsibility encompassed the states of Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky.
