Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Daniel C. Comeaux leads the DEA’s Houston Division, which consists of 12 offices across South, Central and East Texas covering 118,000 square miles, including 645 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border, and is home to a population of over 16 million. SAC Comeaux establishes the enforcement priorities for the Houston Division, which incorporate complex investigations targeting transnational criminal organizations, violent gangs involved in drug trafficking, and the illicit diversion of legitimate pharmaceuticals. SAC Comeaux leads a diverse staff comprised of 750 dedicated Special Agents, Diversion Investigators, Intelligence Analysts, Task Force Officers, members of the National Guard, and professional staff.
SAC Comeaux began his career with DEA in 1997 and was assigned to the San Francisco Division Oakland Resident Office as a Special Agent, where he worked a variety of significant drug cases and known for “thinking outside of the box.” In 2000, SAC Comeaux was reassigned to the Houston Division where he excelled in disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking organizations.
In 2008, SAC Comeaux was promoted to Group Supervisor in the Tucson District Office, where he propelled his group to exceptional enforcement that was recognized by the Executive Office of the President for outstanding achievements and significant contributions to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program in the Office of National Drug Control Policy in Washington D.C. Additionally, the United States Attorney’s Office in the District of Arizona awarded his staff with the Excellence in Cooperative Law Enforcement Award. In 2011, SAC Comeaux was reassigned as the Resident Agent in Charge of the Gulfport Resident Office. In this capacity, SAC Comeaux focused DEA’s operations on transnational criminal organizations with domestic ties. He also focused on developing and strengthening the relationships between DEA and state and local counterparts in the region.
In 2014, SAC Comeaux was assigned to DEA Headquarters in Washington, D.C., as a Staff Coordinator in the Operations Division, Office of Global Enforcement - Mexico/Central America/Canada Section. In May 2015, SAC Comeaux was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the New Orleans Division Jackson, Mississippi District Office, where he oversaw DEA’s drug enforcement and regulatory efforts in the state.
In January 2018, SAC Comeaux was appointed to the Senior Executive Service as the Associate Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles Division. In this capacity SAC Comeaux oversaw more than 250 personnel and served as the primary advisor to the Special Agent in Charge on matters pertaining to DEA’s law enforcement and regulatory operations in California, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam and Saipan. In September 2019, SAC Comeaux was appointed the Special Agent in Charge of the San Francisco Division where he led all enforcement and administrative operations. In February of 2021, SAC Comeaux was selected as the SAC of the Houston Division.
Prior to joining DEA, SAC Comeaux began his law enforcement career in 1991 as a Police Officer with the Houston Police Department. SAC Comeaux is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from the University of Houston.
