DEA Baltimore District Office Drug Awareness Symposium

JAN 15 (BALTIMORE) – On January 10, 2014, the Bel Air High School, located in Harford County, Maryland, hosted a drug awareness symposium for their students presented by the DEA Baltimore District Office. This program detailed the use, nature, and dangers of abusing pharmaceutical medications and synthetic drugs. Supervisory Special Agent Shawn Ellerman and Special Agent Brian M. Stine were the guest presenters who met with various groups of students ranging from the 9th thru 12th grades. The purpose of this event was to educate and inform the students regarding the mission and enforcement activities of the DEA and the Baltimore District Office. Additionally, information was provided to the students regarding drug identification, the effects and consequences of drug abuse, and the most recent drug abuse trends involving prescription drugs and synthetic drugs such as “Spice”, “Bath Salts” and “Molly.”
