Leavenworth Woman Indicted on Meth Charges

LEAVENWORTH, KS.
– The office of Barry Grissom, the United States Attorney for the District of Kansas, announced that a Leavenworth woman is facing federal drug charges.

Laurie Louise Reed, 47, is charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The crimes are alleged to have occurred from December 2010 to April 2011 in Kansas City, Kansas.

Reed was indicted along with Luis Francisco Nevarez-Gomez, 31, and Alejandro Franco, 22, both of Kansas City, Kansas. Nevarez-Gomez and Franco also are charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine as well as distributing methamphetamine.

If convicted, Reed faces a possible sentence of not less than 10 years and not more than life and a fine of up to $10 million for the conspiracy charge and a maximum penalty of 20 years and a fine of up to $1 million for the possession with intent to distribute charge.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
