Mexican Citizen Sentenced for Drug Crime

JUN 25 -- (Idaho) - Jose Rodriguez-Martinez, also known as Alberto Carlos-Macias, 32, of Mexico, was sentenced on June 17th, 2010 to 30 months in federal prison for conspiracy with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. The defendant will be deported to Mexico after his release from prison. Rodriguez-Martinez pleaded guilty to the charge in February 2010, and his co-defendant, Enrique Manuel Ruiz-Soto, 45, of Riverside, California, pleaded guilty in March 2010 to the same conspiracy charge. Sentencing for Ruiz-Soto is scheduled for September 20, 2010. A third defendant, Adolfo Estrada-Mora, 22, of Mexico, also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison.

The three defendants agreed to conspire to sell two pounds of methamphetamine for $22,000 per pound. On July 2, 2009, DEA agents and task forces agents arrested the defendants and seized two pounds of methamphetamine
