Cuban National Sentenced To 15 Years For Cocaine Conspiracy
Rodolfo Aguilera Led Major Cocaine Transportation Network

PHOENIX - Douglas W. Hebert, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s Phoenix Field Division joined Daniel Knauss, U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona, to announce the sentencing of Rodolfo Aguilera, 37, of Cuba. Aguilera was sentenced on June 25 to 180 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Neil V. Wake. On December 12, 2006, Aguilera pleaded guilty to the charge of Conspiracy To Possess with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, a Class A felony.

Rodolfo Aguilera was a leader in a drug distribution network that transported cocaine and other drugs from Arizona to Florida. Drug distribution networks in Florida would then distribute the cocaine. Rodolfo Aguilera pleaded guilty to two transactions involving 38 kilograms of cocaine seized in Arizona in January and February, 2005, as part of the investigation. Aguilera, and others with whom he worked, used truck drivers and rental cars to transport the cocaine to Florida and return with drug proceeds. Law enforcement also seized over $600,000 and several firearms from the organization during the investigation in Florida and Arizona. Aguilera admitted to recruiting and coordinating the activities of the drivers that transported drugs and money over a three year period of time, including the shipments admitted to in his plea agreement.

DEA Acting Special Agent in Charge Douglas W. Hebert said,   “The DEA works every day to help make sure that the drug trade is a losing proposition for the criminals that traffic this poison. Working together, law enforcement in the Phoenix area has dismantled this drug gang and stripped it of its illegal proceeds.”

This case was the result of an extensive investigation led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in Arizona and Florida. The prosecution was handled by Brian G. Larson, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
