Italian and Bosnian Law Enforcement
Delegations Visit the DEA in New York

MAY 20 --MANHATTAN, NY - JOHN P. GILBRIDE, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York Field Division (“DEA”) welcomed two international law enforcement delegations this month in New York City.

On Thursday, May 7, 2009 a delegation of Italian Law Enforcement Officers visited the NYFD. Those dignitaries included: Mr. Stefano Berrettoni, the Central Director, (a Dirigente Generale from Italian National Police, Patrizia Sposato, “Primo Dirigente” of the Italian National Police, Colonel Walter La Cioppa, Lieutenant Mencagli Giulio and Antonio Mendolia who is an Italian Drug Liaison Officer

The delegation was given briefings on DEA’s United Intelligence Division, case investigations and was taken to lunch by the chairman of the Federal Drug Agent’s Foundation Mr. Dennis Schnur. Highlights also included a tour to the Empire State Building.

The FDAF was formed in 1994 by a group of leaders from the worlds of business and the professions. The Foundation's mission is to provide a support mechanism for the professionals of the Drug Enforcement Administration, their families and whenever possible, their law enforcement counterparts.

Subsequent to the Italian delegation, 14 Bosnian law enforcement officers visited the New York Field Division to learn about several international investigations that were led by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Strike Force, the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force and the DEA New York Field Division.

Special Agent in Charge John Gilbride stated, “With today’s international law enforcement cooperation we are succeeding in dismantling drug trafficking organizations worldwide. These organizations prey on the innocent while victimizing them with illicit narcotic supplies. Law enforcement in the United States and other nations are banning together to protect our communities from the perils of drug abuse.”
