Orville O. Greene was appointed as Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) April 27, 2022. As the Special Agent in Charge, Mr. Greene is responsible for all DEA operations throughout Michigan, Ohio and northern Kentucky.
Mr. Greene previously served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Washington Field Division, Baltimore District Office from February 2020 to June 2022. During his tenure in Baltimore, Mr. Greene served as the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Commander where he supervised eight enforcement groups and seven strike force groups.
From July 2018 to February 2020, Mr. Greene served as the Section Chief of the Regional and Local Impact Section in DEA Headquarters. In that role, Mr. Greene successfully streamlined the process of establishing Domestic Cartel Initiative investigations enabling the program to have a sustainable national impact on DEA’s ability to effectively address violent crime and opioid related investigations.
In October 2016, Mr. Greene was transferred to the Special Operations Division where he served as a staff coordinator in the Gangs & Violent Crime Section. As a staff coordinator, he collaborated with the FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), using a whole of government approach to develop a coordination strategy to target MS-13.
Mr. Greene began his career with the DEA in November 2002 at the DEA Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Upon completion of the Academy in March 2003, Mr. Greene was transferred to the New York Field Division, New York City Office. Mr. Greene served in the New York Field Division as a Special Agent until 2010, where he targeted some of the most notorious domestic and international illicit narcotic trafficking organizations. In December 2010, Mr. Greene was promoted to a Group Supervisor, where he created a coalition with HSI, ATF, and local police targeting violent criminal organizations.
Prior to joining the DEA, Mr. Greene was a Police Officer for the New York Police Department. Mr. Greene earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Mr. Greene also served five years in the U.S. Army Reserve and three years of active duty in the U.S. Army.
