Louisville Man Indicted for Selling Oxycontin

NOV 04 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today that a federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment against Germaine Woods, age 37, of 233 W. Broadway, Louisville, Kentucky, on charges of selling Oxycontin, a powerful pain reliever, legally available only by prescription.

The Indictment alleges that on October 10, 2008, Woods possessed with the intent to distribute, and did distribute 300 Oxycontin pills. In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are 20 years imprisonment, a $1,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of no less than 3 years.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Weiser, and it was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Woods is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on November 18, 2008, at 9:30 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.

The indictment of a person by a Grand Jury is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
