Loretto Man Indicted for Manufacturing Marijuana
Joint Investigation by Kentucky State Police and DEA

OCT 15 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - A federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment on October 2, 2007, against James Edward Roberts, age 48, of 345 Norris Road, Loretto, Kentucky, in Marion County, on charges of manufacturing marijuana, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

The Indictment alleges that on April 10, 2007, in Marion County in the Western District of Kentucky, Edwards manufactured and possessed with intent to distribute marijuana. The street value of marijuana is approximately $150 per ounce.

In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are five years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of at least two years.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Larry Fentress. The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation in partnership with the Kentucky State Police.

Edwards is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on October 16, 2007, at 9:30 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
