The DEA, DEA Educational Foundation, and Discovery Education awarded Nate Trillo of Heritage High School (Midlothian School District) the $1,000 Operation Prevention Video Challenge prize for his video entitled “Real Life.”

For the first time the Operation Prevention Video Challenge asked teenagers across the nation to submit 30-60 second public service video announcements to educate their peers about the current opioid epidemic. Trillo’s video focused on a powerful message of “This is real life, and you only get one of them, one life where you can be anything.” Trillo gives examples of what you can grow up to be by flashing different scenes.  The PSA warns that prescription drugs “are not to be chowed down like candy.”  Trillo asks, “Do you want to know where you’ll end up if you abuse prescriptions drug?”  Trillo delivers a powerful shot of a cemetery to end the video.

All the winning videos submitted to the contest were chosen by a panel of judges at Discovery Education, DEA and the DEA Education Foundation.
Charlie Blau, the former Associate Deputy Attorney General and local DEA Education Foundation Board Member, presented the scholarship award to Trillo courtesy of the DEA Educational Foundation.
