MAY 09 (North Texas & Oklahoma) - The final total is in from the 11th National Prescription Take-Back Day this past Saturday, April 30, 2016.  DEA and its partners took back prescription drugs at 134 locations throughout North Texas and Oklahoma.
A total of 35,788 pounds of unused, expired or unwanted drugs were turned in to the collection boxes in both states.

“We want to thank our team, our law enforcement partners, and the citizens who participated,” says DEA Dallas Diversion Program Manager Lisa Sullivan.  “The National Take Back Initiative is a way to keep our water systems and citizens safer by disposing prescription drugs no longer needed.”

Other participants in this initiative include in North Texas and Oklahoma local law enforcement departments (police and Sheriff’s offices), military bases, public school enforcement departments, tribal partner police departments, and various anti-drug community coalitions.
