Nine Individuals Charged in Western District of Wisconsin for
Heroin Distribution

AUG 13 -- (Madison) N ine subjects were arrested in Madison and Middleton, Wisconsin by federal, state, and local law enforcement officials on August 11, 2009. Stephen P. Sinnott, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that eight of the defendants were charged in federal court following the unsealing of five indictments on August 11, 2009. On the same day an additional defendant was charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court. The various indictments and complaint charge the following individuals:

Indictment One : Walter Green, Jr., 29, Middleton, charged with three counts of distributing heroin and one count of possessing heroin with intent to distribute. The indictment alleges that Green distributed heroin on February 20 and 23, 2009, and possessed heroin with intent to distribute on July 17, 2008. Eric Dixon, 25, Madison, has been charged with one count of distributing heroin on February 25, 2009. Derek Farmer, 28, Fitchburg, has been charged with distributing heroin on February 23, March 2, and March 4, 2009.

Indictment Two : Michael Adams, 52, Middleton, is charged with distributing heroin on July 1, 2009.

Indictment Three : Brian K. Adams, 24, Madison, is charged with distributing heroin on February 11 and May 14, 2009.

Indictment Four : Chavis Webster, 27, Madison, and Cherish Jones, 21, Madison, are charged with distributing heroin on February 25, 2009.

Indictment Five : Corey Webster, 24, Madison, is charged with distributing heroin on January 17 and 23, 2009. Corey Webster and Chavis Webster are cousins.

Complaint : Yarnell F. Fuller, 23, Madison, is charged with possessing heroin with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The complaint alleges that he possessed the heroin and a .38 caliber revolver on August 11, 2009.

On August 11, 2009, following their arrest, Green, Farmer, Michael Adams, Brian Adams, Chavis Webster, Jones, and Fuller appeared in U.S. District Court in Madison for initial appearances.

Dixon and Corey Webster are in custody on state charges.

Each of the drug charges has a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. Fuller faces up to an additional five year prison term for the firearm charge.

In addition to the Drug Enforcement Administration, this case was investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation; Madison Police Department; DeForest Police Department; McFarland Police Department; Middleton Police Department; Fitchburg Police Department; Sun Prairie Police Department; and the Dane County Narcotics and Gang Task Force. The Wisconsin State Patrol assisted in the execution of the arrest and search warrants. Assistant United States Attorneys Paul W. Connell and Jeffrey M. Anderson represent the Government in the prosecution of the above defendants.

The public is reminded that the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty either in a court of law or by guilty plea.
