United States Attorney Anthony J. Jenkins
Announces the Arrest of Jada Meyers for Possession of a Controlled Substance

Anthony J. Jenkins, U.S. Attorney for the District of the Virgin Islands, DEA Special Agent in Charge Jerome M. Harris and Police Commissioner Elton Lewis today announced the arrest of Jada Meyers of 48A Agnes Fancy, St. Thomas on Friday morning at the St. Croix International Airport. The arrest was made as a result of an interdiction team finding an alleged kilogram of controlled substances in the bag of the female passenger. Ms. Meyers was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. The substance is believed to be heroin. She had just arrived in St. Croix from St. Thomas.

The interdiction effort was comprised of personnel from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the HIDTA task force, and the Virgin Islands Police Department. Meyers was brought before U.S. Magistrate Judge George Cannon on Friday afternoon for an initial appearance.

U.S. Attorney Jenkins reminds the public that an arrest is not evidence of guilt, and that, as in all criminal cases, the complaint is merely a charging document, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
