New England Field Division Destroys
Over 55,000 Pounds of Prescription Drugs

May 3 - On Saturday April 28, 2012, the Drug Enforcement Administration New England Field Division (NEFD) participated in the fourth National Drug Take-Back Day. The NEFD in cooperation with 538 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and numerous health care providers, collected 55,195 pounds of prescription medications from the general public. This total includes 63 pounds of medications collected from federal employees as part of the first Federal Employee Take-Back Day on April 25.

Thanks to the team work of our law enforcement partners, health care professionals, and the National Guard across six states, the NEFD Take-Back kept a significant quantity of prescription drugs out of circulation.

Connecticut - 7,406 pounds
New Hampshire - 4,706 pounds
Maine - 19,980 pounds
Massachusetts - 18,946 pounds
Rhode Island - 2,262 pounds
Vermont - 1,832 pounds
Federal Employees - 63 pounds
