Des Moines Man Sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine

NOV 26 --DES MOINES, IA - United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker announced that, Gilbert Segura Jr., age 40, of Des Moines, Iowa, was sentenced to a term of 157 months imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. United States District Judge James E. Gritzner also ordered Segura Jr. to serve a 10-year term of supervised release and imposed a Crime Victim Fund assessment of $100.

On September 28, 2006, Segura Jr. entered a plea of guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and distribution of methamphetamine. At the time of his plea, Segura Jr. stipulated to distributing significant quantities of methamphetamine to other individuals in the Des Moines area between December of 2005 and April of 2006.

This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Iowa. This case was investigated the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the Des Moines Police Department and the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force.
