Illinois Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Distribution

MAY 5 --East St. Louis, IL - On May 2, 2008, Vicente LOMELI-FLORES, age 43, of Caseyville, Illinois, was sentenced to 47 months imprisonment for distribution of methamphetamine. FLORES was sentenced in United States District Court in East St. Louis, Illinois. He had previously pled guilty on December 14 2007, to charges of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine in Excess of 500 Grams, and to Possession of Methamphetamine in Excess of 50 Grams. FLORES has been incarcerated since his arrest on April 12, 2007.

FLORES admitted distributing large quantities of methamphetamine in Fairmont City, Illinois in early 2007. FLORES, a former jockey at Fairmont Park, also admitted that he had obtained the methamphetamine which he distributed from associates at a race track near Kansas City, Missouri. Two co-defendants were also convicted in the methamphetamine distribution scheme, along with FLORES.

The investigation which led to the conviction of FLORES and two others was conducted by Special Agents and Task Force Officers assigned to the Drug Enforcement Administration office in Fairview Heights, Illinois, and by Officers from the Fairmont City Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert L. Garrison.
