ST. Louis City Police Officer is Convicted of Heroin & Cocaine Conspiracy Charges

APR 13 -- St. Louis, Missouri: Antoine Gordon, former St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officer was convicted on April 5, 2006, of drug conspiracy charges and aiding and abetting a drug conspiracy, Preston L. Grubbs, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration St. Louis Division Office and United States Catherine L. Hanaway announced on april 6, 2006. The drug conspiracy involved a total of 21 defendants.

Gordon, 35, 1100 block of Vinson, St. Louis, 63106, was convicted after a four-day trial before United States District Judge Rodney W. Sippel. Beginning in spring 2001, Adrian Minnis was the leader of a multi-kilo heroin, cocaine and cocaine base conspiracy. Testimony at trial detailed that between June 10 and June 14, 2004, Antoine Gordon, who at the time was a St. Louis Metropolitan police officer, assisted the Adrian Minnis drug conspiracy by performing “record checks” on available law enforcement databases to determine whether individuals who attempted and/or  obtained heroin from Adrian Minnis on June 10, 2004, were working as confidential sources for law enforcement officers.

Minnis pled guilty last Friday and faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.

“It is a sad day for the community, and the vast majority of law enforcement officers carry out their duty each day with great integrity,” said Hanaway.  “Today, one bad officer was convicted.  We are grateful to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for their cooperation in the prosecution of this case.”

Gordon now faces a maximum penalty of life in prison when he is sentenced on June 30, 2006.

The following co-defendants have previously pled guilty to related charges including conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine as well as weapons charges.

Hanaway commended the cooperative efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the St. Louis Metropolitan and St. Louis County Police Departments. 

“The Assistant United States Attorneys who prosecuted this case and the DEA deserve great credit for bringing to a successful conclusion this 21 defendant case.  Twenty of these drug dealers have already pled guilty, and today the bad cop who aided and abetted was convicted by a jury,”  Hanaway added.
