East St. Louis Man Indicted For Heroin Overdose Death
MAR 22 -- (East St. Louis, IL) - A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that TAVIS D. DOYLE, age 41, of East St. Louis, Illinois, has been indicted and arraigned on a two count federal criminal indictment, charging one count of unlawful distribution of heroin, resulting in death, and one count of unlawful distribution of heroin, resulting in serious bodily injury.
DOYLE was arraigned in United States District Court in East St. Louis on March 22, 2010. He was ordered detained without bail until his trial, which is currently scheduled for May 3, 2010.
If convicted, DOYLE could face a potential maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a fine of up to $2 million, up to 5 years supervised release upon release from prison, and a $100 special assessment as to each count.
The investigation that resulted in DOYLE’S indictment was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Glen Carbon Police Department, and the Jerseyville Police Department.
The case is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Robert L. Garrison for prosecution.
