Carbondale Illinois Man Sentenced for Distributing Crack Cocaine
APR 15 -- (BENTON, IL) - A. Courtney Cox, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that on April 9, 2009, Isaac C. GARNER, a/k/a “Ike, ” age 32, of Carbondale, Illinois, was sentenced in United States District Court in Benton, Illinois. GARNER, who had previously pled guilty to a one-count indictment charging him with distribution of crack cocaine, was sentenced to 204 months’ imprisonment, 6 years’ supervised release, and was fined $300.
The evidence at GARNER’s plea and sentencing established that, on May 27, 2008, GARNER sold crack cocaine to a confidential source working for law enforcement. The violation occurred in Carbondale.
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Southern Illinois Enforcement Group, Carbondale Police Department, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The case was assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Amanda A. Robertson for prosecution.
