Iowa City Man Sentenced to 120 Months Imprisonment for Drugs and Gun Charges
MAR 12 -- (D AVENPORT , I OWA) - On March 12, 2009, United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker announced that Robert Cyril DAVISSON, 57, was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment after pleading guilty to manufacturing and distributing marijuana, and a consecutive 60 months of imprisonment for possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered DAVISSON to serve four years of supervised release upon release from imprisonment and to pay an assessment of $200 to the Crime Victim Fund.
On April 29, 2007, members of the Iowa City Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit (SCAT) executed a search warrant at DAVISSON’s residence located in Iowa City. Officer located a marijuana grow operation which consisted of 246 live marijuana plants in the basement of the residence. Officers also found numerous bags containing varying quantities of marijuana throughout the residence. A 9 mm Beretta handgun was located in the upstairs of the residence. DAVISSON knowingly possessed that firearm in furtherance of the manufacture and distribution of marijuana.
This case was investigated by the Iowa City Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, Coralville Police Department, Muscatine Drug Task Force, Iowa Department of Public Safety, Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa prosecuted the case.
