Illinois Residents Indicted By Federal Grand Jury
JAN 16 --BENTON, IL - Randy G. Massey, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announce that TYRONE W. JACKSON, age 37, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and MADLON S. LADD, age 27, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, were named in a four-count Indictment returned by a Federal Grand Jury sitting in Benton, Illinois.
Count 1 charges LADD with distribution of crack cocaine on November 9, 2005. Count 2 charges LADD with possession with intent to distribute more than 5 grams of crack cocaine on January 25, 2006. Count 3 charges both JACKSON and LADD with possession with intent to distribute more than 5 grams of crack cocaine on February 2, 2007. Count 4 charges JACKSON with distribution of crack cocaine on October 24, 2007.
With respect to Counts 1 and 4, each defendant faces a penalty of up to 20 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $1,000,000, and a term of supervised release of at least 3 years.
With respect to Counts 2 and 3, each defendant faces a penalty of between 5-40 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $2,000,000, and a term of supervised release of at least 4 years.
The investigation in this case was a cooperative effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Joint Narcotics Unit of the Mt. Vernon Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, pursuant to their participation in the Project Safe Neighborhoods Initiative.
Project Safe Neighborhoods is a joint and cooperative effort of the United States Attorney’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Office, and other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies directed at removing guns and drugs from our communities.
The case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney George Norwood.
