JUL 07 (FRESNO, Calif.) —Symery Saykganya, 58, of Modesto, was sentenced today to two years for conspiring to manufacture, distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana following his guilty plea earlier this year. According to his plea agreement, Saykganya was found at a marijuana grow site in a rural area along the San Joaquin River in the vicinity of Newman, CA. Drug agents also found and eradicated 907 marijuana plants that were irrigated by water diverted from the river. Additionally, agents found purported medical marijuana recommendations posted at the site, along with a firearm.
The case was the product of an investigation by federal agents from the DEA and Stanislaus Drug Enforcement Agency, a multi-agency drug task force in Modesto.Assistant United States Attorney Karen Escobar handled the above prosecution.
