Mr. Adolphus P. Wright currently serves as the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Special Agent in Charge of the Miami Field Division, where he provides managerial oversight to drug enforcement operations throughout the state of Florida, the Bahamas, the Islands of the Turks and Caicos and Cuba.
Mr. Wright was born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 25, 1962. In 1984, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of North Florida majoring in Criminal Justice. Upon graduation from DEA Basic Agent training class, in September, 1985, Mr. Wright began his career as a Special Agent assigned to the Miami Field Division. In 1996, Mr. Wright was promoted to Group Supervisor and assigned to the Nassau Country Office in the Bahamas. During his assignment in the Bahamas, he established a special enforcement operation which focused on airport drug smuggling investigations and cooperative efforts between the DEA and U.S. Customs and Immigration authorities. In 2000, Mr. Wright was transferred to the Office of Professional Responsibility as an Inspector. In July, 2003, Mr. Wright transferred to the San Antonio District Office in Texas and served as a Group Supervisor. In 2004, Mr. Wright was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) in the Miami Field Division and was responsible for the management and oversight of a Miami enforcement group, the Mobile Enforcement Team, the Homestead Resident Office, the Key West Post of Duty and the Nassau and Freeport Country Offices. During his tenure as ASAC, Mr. Wright was responsible for the development of Attorney General Exempted Operations including Operation Titan and Operation Golden Eagle II, two of the largest undercover money laundering operations within DEA.
On October 2, 2013, Mr. Wright was appointed to DEA’s Senior Executive Service and selected to serve as the Associate Special Agent in Charge, Miami Field Division. In September, 2014, Mr. Wright assumed the duties of Acting Special Agent in Charge and on April 18, 2015, Mr. Wright was appointed by Administrator Michele Leonhart as the Special Agent in Charge of the Miami Field Division.
