SAC Michael Ferguson

Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Michael J. Ferguson began his career with DEA in 1990. From 1990 to 1993 he was assigned to an enforcement group responsible for conducting a variety of complex drug investigations in the Phoenix Division. While assigned to the Tucson District Office State and Local Task Force Group from 1993 to 1997, he served as the case agent in a number of complex cocaine, heroin, and marijuana investigations in the Southwest border area aimed at disrupting and dismantling major Drug Trafficking Organizations. SAC Ferguson was assigned to the Singapore Country Office from 1997 to 2001 where he was promoted to the Country Attaché position. There he was responsible for U.S. drug law enforcement efforts, working in conjunction with host-country law enforcement entities in Singapore, Indonesia, and Brunei. SAC Ferguson conducted and supervised joint international investigations throughout the Southeast and Southwest Asian geographic areas with various DEA Country Offices and Domestic Field Divisions.

After SAC Ferguson completed his overseas assignment he reported to the New England Division Cape Cod Task Force as the Group Supervisor from 2001 to 2002. SAC Ferguson was assigned to the New Bedford Resident Office as the Resident Agent in Charge from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2005 he was assigned to DEA Headquarters where he served as a Staff Coordinator in Enforcement Operations and subsequently promoted to Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Global Enforcement Operations from 2006 to 2007. SAC Ferguson was the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Operations from 2007 to 2008 and then reassigned to the Washington Division. As an Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) in the Washington Division from 2008 to 2011, he was responsible for enforcement operations in Washington, D.C. and southern Maryland. In 2011, he was reassigned to the New England Division as an ASAC, where he was responsible for enforcement operations throughout Massachusetts. In May 2014, he took on the responsibilities of the Acting Special Agent in Charge until his promotion to Special Agent in Charge in May 2015.

SAC Ferguson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Stonehill College (1987). He is married with three children.
